50's /60's Rock 'n' Roll and Blues

The band was formed in 2001 by lead singer/guitarist Johnny Gunner, who wanted to create a dynamic rockin' band which drew on influences such as late '50's American obscure Rock 'n' Roll, hard driving Rhythm & Blues, Jazz and Rockabilly, in fact all the music that the boys in the band have loved for many years.

Influences are from many of the great acts of the '50's, including: Big Joe Turner, Roy Brown, Bob Luman, Benny Joy, Ronnie Self, Little Richard, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Link Wray and many others.

This Sassy Swing Duo perform 1920's to 1940's classics, with their own individual twist and a comedic edge, Helene Hyland on vocals and Julie Robinson on piano plus accordian.

Also catch their tour 'The Sounds of Europe' busking around the show.

A2 Jive -
1940's Style Dancing

A2 Jive is a dance group based around 1940's style, Jitterbug, Swing, Rock 'n Roll and Jive dancing!

They started in 2002, attending forties swing dances. During this time they were asked many times to start their own classes. The class is relaxed and laid back and on a drop in basis. Beginners come to learn the basics, intermediates come for the practice and to socialise.

Swing Jive with East Coast Swing is our basic, Adding in a mix of lindy hop and rock n roll moves. This Style of Jive came to Britain in the mid 1940’s with the arrival of the American GI.
